Look What Came in The Mail!

A couple of weeks ago, Sara, from The  Rosy Life had a little giveaway,
and I won!
All of these fun surprises arrived in the mail yesterday.
A good dose of spring is how I would describe it.

Check out all of these photographs that she included.
Some of my favorite things blue ball jars, birds nest, bike at the fence.
I almost felt like they were hand picked for me.

I think I have a project in mind for this cute piece of fabric.
I plan to have it hanging in my sewing room.

Saving this to read after I complete some chores today, so I can sit down and soak in some inspiration.
If you have never visited Sara's blog you will definitely want to check it out.
She is encouraging and I guarantee it will  put a smile on your face.
Thanks Sara!

Finished Gift

I know 2 posts in one day! I sometimes have a hard time getting one post a week, but it was a must that I finish this little project, because it is a gift that will be going with me to Maine. I am the family seamstress, and I  enjoy making these little aprons for gifts. I made several last Christmas, and they make a very unique gift. This is actually for my daughter to give, along with a family recipe book that she has made. I have even surprised myself and realized that I can add this to DIY day over at A Soft Place To Land.

I know this is a little blurry, but here is shot of the whole apron.

There is still a little time to enter the giveaway, and I just noticed I am coming up on 200 posts. That just might mean another giveaway is right around the corner! Have a wonderful evening.

Leaving On a Jet Plane, and a Little Secret About Me

In just a couple of days I will be on this.

Headed here.

Now for the little secret........I have never flown!!!! I am a little nervous, and my husband knowing the Control Freak that I am, says that he does not think the pilot will let me help fly the plane, or give him driving instructions. You know, I sort of figured that one out all by myself.
We are headed to Falmouth, Maine for my nephew's wedding. Everyone says the weather should be wonderful, beautiful leaves, and this South Georgia girl will probably feel like it is the dead of winter. We will have a little time to sight see, and flying will definitely be a new adventure for me. I hope to have lots of pictures to share when we get  back.
Don't forget about my giveaway. You have until 10 PM EST to enter. I will probably be mailing the packages out when we return.  So, what new adventure are you headed on? This is just the first of "New Things" that I believe the Lord is bringing into my life. I will share more on that later. Have a blessed week. Jackie

It's A Giveaway!

A while back I asked my son for some of his artwork so I could incorporate it into a giveaway, and he delivered. He enjoys giving the things he makes and has given many pieces away. I have added a little something with each piece that I hoped you might enjoy. So here goes.

Three hand thrown pottery vases. Each one is different, and perfect for adding a little fall touch around the house. I will be giving them as 3 seperate items with a little something added.

With this little vase will be a copy of the book Vintage Treasures.
This one will have Cure for the Common Life by Max Lucado.
Included with this one will be a copy of Decorating Junk Market Style with Sue Whitney and Ki Nassauer.
Each one will also have a little surprise tucked in, to enjoy on those cool fall days. A favorite item at our house this time of year!

Here's all you have to do. Just leave me a comment on this post and you are entered once. Send a friend to comment and have her tell me that you sent her, and you are entered twice. I will be drawing next Tuesday. So how about, it I would love to hear from many of you and tell me what kind of handmade pottery you like.
There are a BUNCH of Yard Sales here this weekend, so that is what I will be doing at least in the morning. There is even one that starts at 5:30 AM! Have you ever heard of such? and would you get up and go at that time of the morning? Hope you all have a wonderful Fall weekend! Jackie

Trying to Suppress the HOUSE Love!

Today I am trying to occupy myself with some needed cleaning and fun projects so I can quit thinking about...
...this
My friend The realtor has already called to see if we were really interested. It is probably going to be gone by the end of the day (my guess). I am trying to be realistic here, and be a Big Girl and not let my wants hurt me.
My husband did not totally squash the idea, but there are pros and cons both ways. We really like where we are, however it is not the dream cottage, but God has provided a wonderful home that is paid for. We live very close to where I have been subbing in a good neighborhood, where I actually have someone a walk away that takes care of Stella when I have to be gone.
However, it is not the Cottage neighborhood.
OK enough of that. If God wants us to have it, he will show us. Both of us, not just me!

In continued effort not to think about the COTTAGE, Sheree is having another great
Giveaway!
Winning this could probably help with the Cottage thing! Check it out here.
Have a wonderful week!

Life and Style Makeover

Over at Project Create a Home they are having a life and style makeover giveaway. We are to enter our best story as to why we need to win this. Well here goes.

First of all I would like to say that I am no more deserving of this makeover than any of the others. We all need a little lift and help from friends, from time to time.
This is one of those times for me. Last January I became a true Empty Nester. i had been forewarned by many that I should prepare for this and in some ways I did. I did not expect the emotional adjustment that it would be.
I am at the place where some things in my life are in desperate need of a makeover. My health and physical appearance as well as some much needed updating that needs to be done around the house.
Even though my daughter is married now, her health is still a concern as I have shared in recent posts. This takes me in yet another direction. I could definitely use some help getting focused at home, and could use some much needed, helpful advice to make some budget friendly updates and changes around the house.
I would like for my home to be warm, friendly and inviting so others feel welcome and at home too. I am on a limited budget since we also have a son in college. I definitely could use the help and inspiration to get my creativity flowing once again. This girl would be grateful to win this prize! Jackie

Swap and Giveaway

I am limited on time this morning since I am headed off to substitute this afternoon. My subbing is back in full swing and will be keeping me busy. I called yesterday, and one of the schools signed me up for all of the days they had in advance through March. Wonderful, because I like knowing ahead of time as much as possible.

Emily is having a Valentine Mini Swap and tomorrow is the last day to sign up, so check her out.

Dawn is having a giveaway celebrating her one year anniversary. So don't miss this one either. Both of these ladies are so creative you will definitely want to check out their blogs, and leave a comment. They'd love to hear from you. Gotta run. Jackie

New Adventure Update and a Package

This morning I announced that I would be off on a new adventure today. Well I am back and it went very well. By now I guess you are wondering what this new adventure of mine was. Maybe you won't be too disappointed when you realize it was not the thrifty shopping adventure we all dream of, or an exotic getaway, or many other exciting things that you might think.
Well here it is: Today was my first day as a substitute teacher. Actually, today I was the helper substitute. I have been needing to earn a little extra, I call it gas money, and to have something that would be pretty steady yet flexible. If you remember I went a couple of weeks ago for the teacher training, background check, and yes, remember I had to pass a TEST! That was the scary part for me. I received my first call Friday. It was a great day, the student were great, and no complaints except I realized I am not used to standing on my feet all day. I will be going again on Thursday for a half day, but I will be filling in for the teacher that day. Part of the time will be for a pep rally, and I actually get to wear jeans and a t-shirt that day. I am looking forward to this and the children can be challenging, but entertaining also. My desire is to be a godly example to all those I come in contact with. There are so many needy children out there, and I want to be able to be a blessing where I am.

Look what came in the mail Saturday. Kate over at My Messy Nest had a giveaway, and I won. If you have not seen this, it is an Amy Butler not only full of project ideas, but the patterns as well. I hope to be putting together a few goodies from it. If you have not visited Kate you want to go over and check her out. She is REAL and like a breath of fresh air. Thanks so much Kate!
Now tomorrow I hope I will have some fall stuff to show you. Have a wonderful evening! I am off to my Beth Moore Breaking Free Bible study. Jackie
