Cruisin

My husband has brought out my son's old bicycle, which is practically new. I thought it would be good to take when I run up to the thrift shop, or go to work out, since those place are only about a mile and a half away from home. My new effort to conserve on gas. Not to mention that I need the exercise.

What's For Dinner?

I tried something new with an old recipe last night for dinner, and thought I'd share it with you.

Chicken Spaghetti

  • Small Fryer or 3 to 4 Chicken Breasts

  • 1 Can Cream of Mushroom Soup

  • Reserved Broth

  • 8oz. Grated Cheddar Cheese

  • About 12oz. Spaghetti Noodles

  • Mushrooms, Green Peas (optional)

  • Small onion chopped fine

  • Salt & Pepper to taste

All of this can be done in crockpot without heating the oven. Cook chicken until done. Remove from bone and chop into bite size pieces. Cook spaghetti noodles and drain. Spray crockpot with non-stick spray. Pour in soup , about 2 cans of reserved broth( I add more broth later if it does not seem like enough liquid. Stir until smooth. Add cooked noodles, chicken, cheese, onion, salt & pepper, and mix well. I added a small amount of grated cheese on top. Cook in crockpot on Hi for at least an hour. Goes well with rolls and a tossed salad. Let me know if you like it. What's your favorite summer recipe that doesn't heat up the kitchen?

Taking a Different Approach

My natural tendency is to make a list of all the things that I need to do around the house. The problem with that approach is that when I don't get everything done, I get discouraged. Today however will be different. I have decided to make a list of everything that I do get done. Hopefully this will be on the list by the end of the day.

*****Organize the bedroom, that has become the yard sale room.

Counting My Blessings

I was just reminded of what a blessed Mom I am. My son called to say he was sitting around thinking about me, and a little bummed out because he only made an A and a B for 7 hours of college credit in a little over 5 weeks. Great!!!!!! He wanted the two A's. My daughter called at the same time to ask if the paint would be ok if she didn't get every speck of old paint off the bead board that she is sanding in the house they just bought. My comment of course was :
It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful!

Thrifty Finds

Just thought I'd show a few of my thrifty finds for the day.
Pampered Chef 3-Tiered Stand with 2 sets of square plates.
Gap Jeans (look like they have never been worn)
Hard to see, but Red, White and Blue floral shirt
for a grand total of $10.13. Someone had let us borrow one of the stands and plates when my daughter got married and commented that they had saved up for it, so me being very curious , looked up the price . The stand and plates alone would have been $75.00 new. Needless to say this girl would not have bought them new. This is my kind of shopping!!! What are your latest thrifty finds? Oh, forgotI just missed 3 iron garden trellises, that would have been about $5.00, but the little lady who got them was so excited, and I was excited for her.

New Adventure

Ok, here it is. After being inspired by so many of you, I have finally ventured out to start this blog. I hope to share some inspiration with you about life, home, family my little projects and more. Nester's IDHTBPTBB challenge is actually what made me take the plunge. I wanted so much to get in on the fun over there. So with the help of my DH I am going to give it a try ,a day late.
I love my back porch even though it is definitely not perfect. My grandmothers potbelly stove holds part of my plants and that is a reminder of someone very special to me, definitely something beautiful.
