Today I am looking for some inspirational ideas from all of you, so if you haven't commented before, here's your chance to tell me what you think. I have finally painted what we called the orange bedroom. See the picture below. When my daughter moved back home while she was sick she chose this color. We now both remind ourselves that this was one of our biggest paint mistakes! In trying to work with what I already had I have changed it to a light blue. Not exactly the color I was going for, but I am not one to change it if it is close.
I am not going for a country look, but more vintage if that is possible. The pillow shams were Pottery Barn shams that I bought off of e-bay several years back and was called the Nostalgia Collection. The dust ruffle is a light chambray and the matelasse coverlet is one that I have had forever and is a quality coverlet. Here is a close up of the pillow shams.

They look kind of like vintage handkerchiefs.
Now my question is, what would you put over the bed? What type pictures , etc. I have already used plates in our bedroom, so that isn't an option. What kind of window treatments would you
hang? I would love to hear any and all suggestions. Looking forward to hearing from all of you. Have a great weekend! Jackie

The blue walls look calm & relaxing! Yes, much better than the orange! You could decorate the walls with hankies framed in embroidery hoops...Jen at Lipstick & Laundry just did a post on that, and someone mentioned using them to frame handkerchiefs. Wouldn't that be cute? Your window is pretty the way it is- I wouldn't cover it up too much! Hope this helps! =)
I love the light blue too! Two vertical pics over the bed?? The framed hankies sound like a cute idea! Could you pull in some of the reds or green from the shams--lampshades, pretty pottery with philode. (I can't spell that plant, but it's hardy and indoors and grows quickly!!) or a fern--I'm into the ferns right now! If you had a quilt that had some of those colors, you could display it on the wall beside the bed. Ok--I'm just thinking outloud here! Can't wait to see what you come up with!
Hugs,
Susan
Hi Jackie~ I don't have any ideas to share, but will pray that the Lord will enlighten and inspire you to make that bedroom beautiful! :-) Can't wait to see what you do to it!
What about old postcards hanging over the bed?
Either each post card in it's own frame, or a collage of them in one of those collage type frames.
That could lend to the vintage-y feel. Maybe. ?? :)
Are you planning on coming to this area soon? It would be fun to get together!
Love those shams and the colors are so pretty! I think frames in different sizes with some pretty vintage looking linens in them would be super pretty, but I am horrible at this, so sorry. Your off to a Great start though and I love the blue walls!
Hmmm, I think I would hang some vintage plates, or a framed print! :)
