Now if I can do this anyone can. The other day I decided this would make great birthday gifts, hostess gifts, or just because gifts.
this in my breakfast room,
this, on the back porch,
and this in my laundry room!
not to mention,
the ones I have already given away. I gave one last month for a friends birthday, another one coming up in September, and who knows. Now you see the multiplication process I was referring to.
This plant is Pothos. Very easy to grow! When the plant starts putting on long runners, I just clip a bunch, stick in some water and wait for them to root. I usually clip enough that I think will make a pretty pot.
This week I picked up two pretty bright colored pots at the thrift store for a $1, that will be perfect for the next bunch that I root.
I might also mention that all of the potting soil I have purchased this summer was Miracle Grow,(Don't use cheap potting soil) that I got half price! My secret, busted bags that just had a small tear, so they put them in clear plastic bags and place them on the half price cart at Lowes.

First... you need one of these.
Next... you cut some of these.
then you put them in this with water, and you will end up with
this, gift for a friend,

I never think about giving people plants. I need to get a few for our new place since it's less of a cave than the last home. I'm going to try this and maybe I won't kill them. :)
Jackie, what a great idea. Pothos is so pretty and very easy to grow.
Great idea! I just may start doing this myself, thank you!
You are so clever!! I love that plant! I'll be on the lookout for potting soil with rips in the bags!!
Enjoyed talking to you today! I got another call for a job next week!! 3rd grade!
Hugs!

Great idea - and such pretty gifts! I love inexpensive ideas for "just because" gifts!!
Splendid idea!!!
Oh Jackie-You KNOW I love this idea! And who wouldn't love a living gift?
I ran a plant store in the '70 and we had customers who came in you had Pothos that were 20 or 30 ft long. One of the most vigorous plants out there. What a fun way to keep them trimmed and to spread your love around. And with thrifted pots to boot.
Hi . .I am new. . found you blog thru A Soft Place to Land. .I just recently did a short post on my blog about thoughtful, unique, yet inexpensiv gifts. . and I so want to link this post to that. . love to share this with my readers and I am so going to give it a try. . I have those plants around my house but have never rooted them.. thanks for explaining it so clearly.
Hi,
Great idea. Thanks for the info. I thrift cache-pots at GW and other places, scrub them up and often get inexpensive plants at Walmart, or Trader Joes to put in them, but this is genius! :)
Oooh I love that. I think I can hack growing that. You make it look easy.. Pothos...okay gotta remember that.
PS Are you aware you have word verification on? Just thought I would mention you can change that in your settings tab.
Oh my gosh I have a gray dog too! Such a mischivious little personality, no! But dear, so dear. Since I know that you love to share great bargains with your readers, thought I'd show you this link

I love giving live plants as gifts but I never think about "making" them. :) Love this idea!
