It is
DIY day again over at
ASPTL, and Transformation Thursday at
Shabby Chic Cottage so here is a little
chalboard tray for you to try out. I purchased this old silver tray from a yard sale several weeks ago. It had several rust spots which made it perfect for my chalkboard. I cleaned it, taped off the edges with painters tape, then used and
exacto knife to cut out the scalloped border. I used spray
chalboard paint, and did about 3 coats. You have to be careful when spraying so your paint doesn't run.
Here is what I ended up with. Perfect for my kitchen counter to post a bible verse for the week, uplifting reminders, or menu plans and whatever. This is so easy so give it a try.

I saw that idea too and loved it! Great job!
Love it!! Really love it. The tray shape is fabulous and love how you used the exacto knife to give the edge a smooth finish--super tip! This is one of the favorites of the chalkboard trays I've seen.
That's beautiful!
That looks great! I'll have to try that on a platter one of these days!
Love it! Love the platter you used, I need to find one for a chalkboard as I love how it looks! Awesome!
I'm crazy about chalkboards, and this one is just too cute! Love this!
Thanks for joining me today.

That is just precious!! I have several silver trays that were wedding gifts that now exude that greenish patina!!!!! Yikes! Too cute! I'll give it a try.
Now, if I'd had your phone number last night, I would have called to tell you what a HIT the Blueberry Bread Savannah Style was at my church mtg! Yum and more yum!!! Just wish the recipe made more!!
Hugs!

I saw the name of your blog at another site and loved it. I also have an Empty Nest Full Life, so knew I would love your blog, and I do. What a great idea for the chalkboard tray. I'll be following. Come on over for a visit at both of my sites if you get a chance.
love what you did with the silver tray!
I just love this! I'm seeing this everywhere and having an urge to make a chalkboard! I'm going to look around to find something to chalkboard paint! ;-)
That turned out so amazing. What character it now has...and function too! : )
I also scrolled down to see your daughter's beautiful black damask chair makeover...gorgeous!
I really love how your project turned out! I recently found a silver tray at Salvation Army, picked up some chalkboard paint and planning to do the same thing. I have a question, though...what did you use to clean your tray up? I can't seem to get the handles cleaned well :(
Have a lovely Sunday!

So cute! Love the shape of the tray and the handles. Pretty!
It looks great! It's a nice, big tray too...to hold lots of writing! I like the idea of putting the Bible verses. I have the paint, I just need to get a tray and go for it!
what a cool idea. I want to make one to give my daughter so she can write a verse (great idea you had) on and display it at parties. now I have a new item to keep my eyes open for:)

Wow, this is one cute idea for a tray. Often times I see them in thrift stores and they're scratched and lifeless. This is adorable!

P.S. About the 50th, how well do you know the couple? What do they like? Do you want to make something or buy something? Do they collect anything? Will you be giving the gift in person or mailing it? Drop me an email!
