Lessons
This is what I will be working on at the end of the month. We have a shop here that sells beautiful fabric, and from time to time she has sewing classes. Well, I do know how to sew some, but have never had lessons, so I thought this would be the chance for me to improve on the skills that I already have, and make this fun tote in the process. An added bonus is that my son will be taking the class with me. You heard that right, MY SON. He is an art major, and wants to learn all that he can, and sewing is a type of art. He was not so excited that making the girly tote was the only option, but for teaching purposes I explained that there can only be one project. He will probably be doing this for his sister. Now please understand that there is nothing about him that is not all man, so we figured this should be a hoot and much fun with him joining in. I am looking forward to it, and we will have pictures of our finished projects for you to see.

That tote is really cute and I bet it will be fun to make! I love it that your son is taking the class with you! He earns some major Brownie points for that! :)
How fun! I wish that I lived close enough to you to take that class with you and your son! Bless his heart! I am very proud of him! Y'all will have fun doing that!
Blessings,
Susan

Hi Jackie, That is a cute and will be so much fun to make! And how about your son taking the class with you, now that is a hoot! LOL! Ya'll will have a ball! :) ~Rhonda
How special to do something with your son. I'm a firm believer that sons should be taught skills traditionally relegated to women and vice versa.
My maternal grandfather was a tailor, which is, in part, where I believe my sewing talent came from.
I think that is so neat that your son is doing the class. He could use different material and make a manly bag for things that he needs to carry. I plan on teaching my little one's (10y/o) scout troop how to sew a button on this year. I wish someone would have taught my husband this!! Have a blessed day!!
Years ago tailors were usually men. Also when I was doing my field work while in Occupational Therapy, my mentor was a male OT and he did sewing. Made many of the shirts he wore. Also while I was growing up and in 4-H one of the guys in the club did sewing and one year for the dress review his sister modeled what he made. Congrats to your son for learning the skill.
