Baby It's COLD Outside..............

..........and I got out of bed at 6:30 to go substitute this morning,

and they had forgot to call and tell me the day had been changed,

so I came back home,

put on flannel pajama pants, fuzzy socks, and a long sleeve t-shirt that doesn't match,

and put the finishing touches on this in the crockpot. Great weather for this soup! I have been using this mix for quite some time, but it occurred to me that I can put together the dried beans myself, since I don't use the flavor packet(too salty for me). You can use this with either smoked sausage or hamhock. I usually save the ham bone from spiral hams when I get them on sale, and it makes the best soup! I hope you don't EVER throw those ham bones away!
What are some favorite things you like to warm up with on these cold winter days? Have a blessed day, and stay warm.
Jackie

Hi Jackie,
Haven't talked to you in ages so thought I would pop in and say hi. Hope your Christmas and New Years was full of wonderful celebrations. I am so in the mood for soup. I actually just made a batch of chicken tortilla soup.

Hugs,
LeAnn:)

I like to warm up to a toasty fire with some hot cocoa. While listening to some easy music. I can drift off to places that I can only imagine.

Oh,oh,oh. I love those 15 bean soup mixes and we almost never use the seasoning packet either. Years ago I forgot to add it one time and it tasted wonderful without. Usually all of that sodium and who knows what else goes in the trash. My hubby recently smoked a ham and saved the ham bone for me---delish!

Right now I am making myself a very large mug of hot tea---just plain ole hot tea! Usually hot natured here, but with this record cold weather, even I am chilly, esp. my toes.

Stay warm!

I confess - I do throw my ham bones away (well, when I have whole hams but that has been awhile)....I guess I need to get one - and make soup! Sounds so yummy on these frigid days we are having!

Love soups! All kinds, except for cold soups. YUK!

May have to give that 15 bean soup a try. Never have seen that before.
Thanks!

Stay warm.
