My posting has been a little sporadic, but I am trying to get used to substitute teaching, along with having Chloe with us again. She is a lot of fun, but still very much a puppy. There is something to what we have heard, that when children get really quiet they must be into something. Well, the little girls were really quiet this afternoon and when I checked I had forgotten about the stick that Chloe came in with after our walk. Needless to say by the time I found them the stick was in shreds all over the bedroom floor, but it could have been worse. This is my third week as a substitute, and I have been in a different school each week, and it is surprising to me, how much I have enjoyed it.
Now for my question. I need a little help from all of you. I am participating in Emilie's Mini-Thanksgiving Swap. Being new to the Blog World and Swaps, I am asking for a little help. I want to be sure my partner is blessed, so here is where you all come in. The rules were to spend around $10-15 minimum, send at least 3 items related to Thanksgiving, and we were given a little survey of some likes, styles etc. If you were on the receiving end what 3 items would you like to receive. Keep in mind it can be store bought or homemade. So how about it, will you help me be a good partner? This is my big pumpkin sitting on my breakfast room table with the best value in a candle this season. A little over $2.00 for this spiced cider candle from Wal-Mart. Well worth it and very fragrant. I am not usually a Wal-Mart candle purchaser, but this one was a good deal.
Hope you have had a blessed day. Jackie

Hi Jackie!
Do you have Publix where you live? If you do, then you've seen their Thanksgiving commercials with the man and woman pilgrim salt and pepper shakers who come to life. Publix sells the shakers (although mine have never come to life, at least when I've been looking). I bought them for myself one year and they are my hands-down favorite Thanksgiving table addition.
Here are some other ideas:
Thanksgiving dish or hand towels.
Thanksgiving welcome mat for the front door (I've seen these at GardenRidge for cheap).
A vintage gravy boat.
A Thanksgiving/Fall pin/brooch.
I know you'll come up with a great package!

Jackie~that sounds like fun! I got the little pumpkins on the 3 opening frame from Target and spray painted them white. As for the swap, what about that yummy spiced cider candle (I love the tarts too as well), a little Starbucks gift card for their spiced pumpkin latte or cider, and the little frame?? Good luck!

Hi, thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm a substitute teacher too!
For the Thanksgiving swap- I think those wooden or resin pumpkins are really cool that have things carved in them- like sayings such as give thanks. I've also seen some really neat pilgrim figures. Little orange pepper berry candle rings or wreaths are cute too! Good luck with your swap!
I have seen some cute things in Dollar Tree, or Michaels or Hobby Lobby. You had also asked me about my rub-on letters that I used for my gourd...they are from Joann Fabrics! Good luck!

i think anything you could send would be great! my ideas are....white pumpkins (not real ones but ones that can be stores and used for years to come!)... pumpkin spice candles... picture frames (even with a little thanksgivins something framed in it)...just some random ideas!! :) hope they help!
Hi Jackie,
You have already been given great ideas. If you have a Target, Big Lots, Hobby Lobby or Dollar Tree around you just go by and see what they have cause they are usually really in-expensive.
It is really easy to do dish towels, pilgrim anything, candles or the pumpkins with sayings such as Harvest Blessings. I'm sure you will do great!!
I love the glow the candle is giving.
Hey, Jackie! You are just precious! Thanks you for your sweet comments on my blog.
I love the picture of the pumkin! And...you mentioned WAl-mart! bless your heart! I'm subbing tomorrow :). I really do enjoy it.
Take care!!
Blessings,
Susan
Hi Jackie! Bless you for participating in Em's mini swap. I am an actual, real-life friend of Emilie's and I am not even participating in her swap (shame! shame! I know.). I just don't have my act together enough yet, and I don't want some poor gal waitin' on a cute package from me! Anyway, I work as a speech therapist for the school district full-time so bless you again for substitute teaching! As far as the mini swap...I think that any bargain that you can find and foof up with some ribbon or sparkles etc. would give your own creative touch! Have fun!
Oooohhh...I love a good challenge! :-)
It sounds like right off the bat, you may want to add one of those spiced cider candles to the mix! Maybe a lovely box of "thank you" notes ("Thanks"-giving, after all!), a vintage teacup, and some tea and/or fancy cookies? I know my idea's a bit obscure...but we all spend so much time online these days, it's nice to be reminded to sit back, relax, write a loved one a note, and give thanks for the simple little things. :-)
I'm glad substituting is going so well for you!
what great comments you've received so far...i agree with a kitchen towel and thak you notes, what about some homemade spiced tea with a fun mug? have fun!
I can't help you on the swap, but just wanted to tell you the table with the candle looks so cozy. I love a cozy room! It feels peaceful, just looking at the picture.
I also thought about a candle right away or a specialty tea or coffee.
Target always has great stuff that most women would love & the Starbucks card tucked in was a great idea too!
You can never, I repeat never, go wrong with candles. At least not in my opinion. :)
Great idea. You could make a simple wreath.
If it smells good...buy it...love the pumpkin, too!

Hey there!!
I am in Emilie's swap also and actually am partnered with her for 2 swaps-so fun!! Anyway, I have some ideas that I don't mind sharing if you want to email me. I would post them here but there are just too many and detailed, etc. I am having fun with this one.

I'm not usually a Wal-Mart candle purchaser either, I'll have to try it if it's putting off some good smells!! :) Have a great weekend!!
I'm so sorry I missed you! You can't imagine how happy we all were to leave because we had just pulled a 6 am till midnight shift the day before and were back in the store at 6 am on Thursday. I was so happy to be headed home, let me tell you!
I've never been in a swap but from seeing everyone's packages they receive on their blog I know that packaging counts! Be sure that whatever you send you fuss over the details, make sure your colored tissue paper is the right color, hand stamped tags, pretty ribbon tied around things, etc. Hope this helps and of course you can never go wrong with something from Hobby Lobby! *smiles*
I love your photo! Some of your place card holder forks would be great with some fall place cards :0)
I love your candle and the pumpkin. It's so soothing to look at. Great buy on the candle too. Connie
